About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician – Data Center Cooling is a key contributor to the operation and reliability of mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring continuous uptime of high-performance cooling systems that support data center environments. This role is responsible for executing and inspecting complex electrical work across central utility plant systems, including installation, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of power distribution, motor controls, and integrated control systems tied to chillers, cooling towers, and pumping systems. Working within a 24/7, high-availability environment, the Journeyman Electrician partners closely with mechanical, controls, and operations teams to optimize system performance, reduce downtime, and support commissioning and ongoing plant operations. The position requires a high level of technical expertise, situational awareness, and adherence to strict safety and compliance standards, with a focus on maintaining resilient, efficient, and scalable cooling infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state/local requirement)
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • 3–7 years of experience in industrial, commercial, or data center environments
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems (low and medium voltage)
  • Experience working with motors, control systems, and industrial electrical equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, direct and provide technical guidance to production floor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate technically, both internally with various departments and externally with customers.
  • Solid organization skills and strong multi-tasking abilities in a timeline driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day coordination of activities for your specific areas or segments under your responsibility.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems supporting data center cooling equipment, including chillers, DAHU units, cooling towers, pumps, and heat exchangers
  • Perform, inspect, and troubleshoot electrical installations including conduit, cable trays, power distribution, motor controls, and panel wiring
  • Perform routine quality inspections of electrical systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, single-line diagrams, schematics, and control drawings
  • Support system commissioning, startup, and functional testing
  • Ensure work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable regulations
  • Implementation of new processes on new and custom build products
  • Provide guidance on electrical aspect and assist with new product lines and updates to current product lines
  • Provide training plans and conduct training as required to increase product and process knowledge.
