About The Position

Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI) is seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician / Roadway Foreman to lead a small field crew performing highway and roadway lighting repairs, electrical service work, underground wiring repairs, troubleshooting, and lighting system maintenance throughout Norfolk, VA. This is a hands-on leadership role. Most of the work will involve repairing and maintaining roadway lighting systems, electrical services, underground feeds, lighting circuits, poles, fixtures, and related infrastructure. The right person can work independently, lead a one- to two-person crew, stay organized in the field, and make sure the work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Current CDL Class B driver’s license
  • Journeyman Electrical License required
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent training
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical experience
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of field assignments
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Roadway lighting experience preferred
  • Bucket truck experience preferred — will train if needed
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • Intermediate Work Zone certification preferred — will train
  • MOT / TTCM certification preferred — will train
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, roadway, or outdoor lighting systems
  • Experience with underground electrical troubleshooting and repairs

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations for roadway lighting repair and maintenance work
  • Supervise and train a one- to two-person crew
  • Troubleshoot and repair highway and roadway lighting systems
  • Work on electrical services, underground wiring, lighting circuits, and control systems
  • Troubleshoot 3-phase lighting circuits
  • Locate underground electrical faults
  • Set light poles and repair pole-mounted lighting equipment
  • Install, repair, and maintain lighting fixtures, wiring, conduit, and related components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, maps, manuals, specifications, and work orders
  • Use testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and two-handed tools safely and effectively
  • Operate or work from bucket trucks, lifts, trenchers, backhoes, lift trucks, and related equipment when needed
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and job status
  • Follow NEC standards, work zone safety requirements, and all company safety procedures
  • Coordinate with managers, inspectors, customers, and other field personnel as needed
