About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician Maintenance role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems within industrial, commercial, or residential facilities across the United States. This position involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment to prevent downtime and maintain compliance with safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance teams to identify electrical issues, implement corrective actions, and support system upgrades or installations. This role demands a strong understanding of electrical codes, blueprints, and schematics to execute tasks accurately and safely. Ultimately, the Journeyman Electrician Maintenance contributes to the overall operational excellence by minimizing electrical failures and enhancing system longevity.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license or certification recognized within the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited electrician apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Certification in specialized areas such as motor controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or electrical safety.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Additional training or certification in first aid and electrical safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams or mentor junior electricians.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, motors, transformers, and control panels.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions using testing devices such as voltmeters, ammeters, and oscilloscopes to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure proper installation and maintenance of electrical components.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules and emergency repairs.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to support operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in training apprentices and junior electricians to promote skill development and adherence to safety standards.
