About The Position

This role provides essential support to Project Managers and Engineering/Science personnel by assisting with scheduling, data gathering, database population, and the preparation of technical and project reports. The technician will participate in test or project events, reporting status and results. Key responsibilities include demonstrating proficiency with hand tools, soldering irons, and basic test equipment, as well as assembling drone frames, motors, wiring systems, and electronic components according to detailed instructions and schematics. The role also involves conducting functional tests, calibrations, and flight-readiness checks, diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues, and documenting assembly procedures and test results. Assistance with prototype builds, iterative design improvements, and maintaining organized workspaces are also expected. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of experience in required task area
  • Experience with mechanical or electronic assembly (drone, RC, robotics, or similar preferred).
  • Familiarity with flight controller configuration software (e.g., Betaflight, ArduPilot, PX4).
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline preferred
  • Experience with 3D printing, CNC equipment, or composite materials.
  • Understanding of UAV components (motors, ESCs, flight controllers, GPS modules, batteries) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Project Manager or mid-level/junior Engineering/Science personnel in scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses, database population, preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, and associated documentation.
  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Project Manager or Engineering supervisor.
  • Report status and results.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with hand tools, soldering irons, and basic test equipment.
  • Assemble drone frames, motors, wiring systems, and electronic components according to detailed instructions and schematics.
  • Conduct functional tests, calibrations, and flight-readiness checks.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to mechanical assembly, electrical connections, and firmware configuration.
  • Document assembly procedures, test results, and any deviations or repairs.
  • Assist with prototype builds and iterative design improvements.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and follow safety standards in handling tools and electronic components.
  • Other duties as assigned.
