The Journey Lineman constructs and maintains overhead transmission and distribution lines, poles, towers, fixtures, streetlights, field capacitors, voltage regulators, reclosers, anchors, guy wires and services, and remove and install transformers. This role involves constructing and maintaining overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines, poles, towers, installing banners, fixtures, service transformers, streetlights, and ballpark lights, using various equipment like boats, barges, ladders, and vehicles, on land and/or over water. The position requires working from ladders, bucket trucks, and climbing wood poles, concrete poles, and steel structures. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting overhead/underground conductors, transformers, services, meter sockets, and service panels, as well as maintaining, servicing, upgrading, and installing substation equipment in an energized environment (120-volt to 138,000-volt). The role also includes performing scheduled 24-hour "on call" assignments and adhering to safety procedures outlined in the APPA Safety Manual and KEYS adopted safety practices and policies, including wearing required personal protective equipment and following guidelines for working on energized lines up to 138 KV. Additionally, the Journey Lineman will review and identify any issues that need to be addressed prior to following switching orders in accordance with KEYS’ switching procedures.
