Journey Level Plumber
About The Position
Position Summary Facilities Management is entrusted with the development, care, maintenance, and operation of Colorado State University’s physical properties. Our purpose is to create and sustain environments that support CSU’s land-grant mission, fostering the success of students, faculty, and staff through world-class academic, research, and outreach programs. The Journey Level Plumber performs the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of water, waste/vent, storm drain, gas, and vacuum systems for new construction and remodel projects. Key duties include reading blueprints to execute material take-offs, ordering supplies, and developing labor and material estimates for project bidding and budgeting. This role is also responsible for scheduling necessary utility shutdowns and excavations, maintaining plumbing tools and equipment, and ensuring all installations strictly adhere to relevant plumbing and building codes. This position is part of the Remodel & Construction Services Plumbing Shop within Facilities.
Requirements
- Journey or Master Level License plumbing license
- Pre-employment Criminal and Motor Vehicle Background Check
- Pre-employment Physical
- Valid Driver’s License
- Demonstrated in the application materials: Experience Only: Journey or Master Level License plumbing license
Nice To Haves
- Commercial Plumbing experience
- Experience working in a higher education setting
- Experience with med gas, polypropylene pipe, and threading pipe
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Basic computer skills
- Experience with other trades
Responsibilities
- Perform the layout and installation of all potable water, waste and vent systems, storm drain systems, natural gas systems, specialty gas and vacuum systems being added or modified for remodels or for new construction projects.
- Read blueprints and calculates materials needed.
- Orders and obtains proper supplies.
- Estimate new construction and remodel, material/labor for bidding purposes.
- Consult with other units for estimating conflicts.
- Develop estimates from written and verbal instructions.
- Work with PM to arrive at project budget.
- Perform maintenance on plumbing tools, equipment and systems.
- Other related duties as assigned or requested in order to meet the needs, goals and objectives of the department.
