About The Position

Hampton Lumber is hiring a Journey Level Millwright for its Willamina plant. The role maintains, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs machinery, equipment, and plant facilities to support safe and efficient production. Millwrights work with maintenance, production, and management personnel, contribute ideas and suggestions, and may take a leadership role in completing assigned work. The position requires understanding mechanical operations and related maintenance systems, maintaining current documentation, and complying with company work and safety rules and applicable industry standards. The shift is swing, from 5:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Overtime may be required.

Requirements

• At least one year in a journey-level industrial millwright position or comparable training; sawmill experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in welding, cutting, equipment and systems troubleshooting, maintaining working components, and operating machinery.
• Ability to understand pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Proficient use of tools related to the trade.
• Good communication skills.
• Must pass a drug test if offered a position.

Nice To Haves

• Sawmill experience.
• State classification as a Journeyman Millwright by a Hampton Lumber mill or state Industrial Maintenance Millwright certification; preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and plant facilities.
• Assist production personnel with material-flow problems and help maintain the flow of product.
• Communicate with facility departments and personnel to support proper operation and maintenance of systems, equipment, and facilities.
• Keep documentation up to date.
• Comply with company work and safety rules and related industry standards and regulations.
• Use maintenance tools and related machinery, and operate facility equipment as needed for troubleshooting and testing.
• Learn new skills to maintain updated machinery and facilities, and adjust work habits to new situations.
• Suggest improvements that could enhance the facility.
• Take a leadership role in completing tasks and work assignments.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment and contribute as a team member.
• Learn production operator positions to the level needed to maintain production flow, and learn the operations and functions of related industry departments.
• Work overtime as required.
