About The Position

Responsible for executing journeyman duties to assist an assigned crew. The role involves interpreting instructions and construction plans, placing and fastening reinforcing steel in concrete forms, cutting and bending steel rods, reinforcing concrete with wire mesh, and moving materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in the industrial construction or maintenance industry.

Responsibilities

• Determine the number, size, shape, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
• Position and secure steel bars in concrete forms to reinforce concrete.
• Select and place rod in forms, spacing and fastening the rods together using wire and pliers.
• Cut bars to required lengths using a hacksaw, bar cutters, or acetylene torch.
• Bend steel rods with hand tools or a rod-bending machine.
• Reinforce concrete with wire mesh.
• Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
