About The Position

The Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This is an applicant pool for affiliate faculty, and screening will occur when positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions, and the number varies by semester based on program needs. Not all applicants will be contacted or selected to teach. MSU Denver, established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, providing a foundation for their aspirations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field.
  • At least six years of professional, full-time experience in journalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Journalism or a related field plus at least six years of professional, full-time experience in journalism.
  • A Doctorate in Journalism or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 3 - 9 credit hours in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, or Public Relations at the 1000-level or above.
  • Courses may include: Introduction to Journalism and Mass Media, Journalism Fundamentals, Reporting, Fundamentals of Public Relations, Beginning Photojournalism, Beginning Layout and Design, and others.
  • Be available for consultation with students.
  • Teach assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
  • Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
