About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) Terrain Technician Senior to support the Joint Multinational Simulation Center - Pacific (JMSC-P). The position develops high-fidelity terrain and simulation products that represent operational environments and support realistic collective training. The technician translates unit training requirements and operational scenarios into customized terrain products, creates simulation databases with infrastructure and environmental features, and validates product accuracy through quality-control processes. The role also supports formatting and importing or exporting terrain products across simulation platforms and refining products based on exercise feedback, after-action reviews, and changing training objectives. The successful candidate will work independently and with the broader JLVC and MTC technical team, managing multiple terrain and database development efforts to demanding exercise timelines. The role is based onsite at a customer site in Schofield, Hawaii, with moderate travel to other customer sites in the area of responsibility. A SECRET clearance is required, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance. A CompTIA SEC+ certification is required within six months of hire.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in terrain development, database development, modeling and simulation, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing, modifying, validating, and sustaining JLVC simulation terrain and parametric data sets using JTDS or VISTA.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, schemas, and integrations connecting simulation systems with exercise and mission-command environments.
  • Experience with terrain generation and visualization, including elevation data, imagery, feature data, and three-dimensional terrain products.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats and standards, including vector, elevation, imagery, and other spatial data formats.
  • Experience converting, transforming, and validating data between geospatial and simulation formats.
  • Experience with terrain quality assurance, accuracy checks, data validation, and fidelity assessments.
  • Experience with configuration and version management of terrain products.
  • Understanding of simulation interoperability and how terrain products support distributed training environments.
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior technician or technical lead responsible for terrain/database production, validation, and configuration management.
  • Experience translating operational scenarios and training requirements into realistic terrain and simulation database products.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple development efforts and meet demanding exercise timelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with sound judgment and close team coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Modeling and Simulation, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, relevant experience, or specialized technical training.
  • SECRET security clearance required; must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • CompTIA SEC+ certification required within 6 months of hire.
