Jockey Room Custodian
About The Position
The Jockey Room Custodian is responsible for ensuring Jockeys are present and that their dress and riding equipment meet track specifications. This role also involves maintaining order in the room among Jockeys and Valets, examining lead pads for compliance with track specifications, and directing Valets in cleaning the jockey room. Specific duties include washing and drying jockey silks, saddlecloths, and other riding apparel, preparing jockey apparel for each race day, maintaining and preserving lead weights used in saddlecloths, preparing lists of riding obligations for Valets and Jockeys, and ensuring the accuracy of silks information listed in the official program.
Requirements
- High school degree or higher
- Close attention to detail
- Very strong organizational skills
- Basic knowledge of washer/dryer maintenance
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively around strict time constraints
- Must be listed by name on roster throughout Live Racing season
Responsibilities
