About The Position

The Job Coach will provide coaching and training services to trainees, developing plans of action based on Individual Service Plans (ISP) or Individual Employment Plans (IEP). This role involves addressing trainee barriers, meeting funding source requirements, and implementing appropriate interventions. The Job Coach will conduct task analyses, teach work-related skills and behaviors in a work setting, identify and resolve employer or trainee concerns, and ensure tasks are completed to standard. Travel training, site duties, and maintaining positive relationships with employers are also key aspects. The position requires providing on-the-job support, demonstrating necessary skills, and implementing strategies for fading out services once trainees are successful. A training schedule must be developed to meet funding agency requirements, and accurate training records must be maintained. The employee will represent Zanesville Welfare Organization and Goodwill Industries, Inc. professionally, report regularly to their supervisor on trainee progress, and complete all required reporting forms accurately within 5 business days of service completion. Ensuring trainee and stakeholder satisfaction is crucial, as is participating in staff training and trainee staffing meetings. All employees must comply with agency policies, ethics, vision, and all applicable laws and regulations. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor may include Pre-ETS or Job Developer responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must have and maintain a valid Ohio and/or West Virginia driver’s license.
  • Must remain insurable under the employer’s common insurance carrier.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of behavior modification and techniques.
  • Ability to conduct a task analysis.
  • Ability to develop appropriate teaching aids and suggest accommodations or assisting devices.
  • Six to twelve months of effective work experience.
  • Computer knowledge and usage required.
  • Experience working with persons with barriers to employment including juveniles aged 14-21 enrolled in school.
  • Understanding of Independent Living Skills and/or competitive work standards with employer perspectives and expectations.
  • Willingness and ability to train a variety of skills in varied environments, with different physical demands.
  • Patience, reliability, problem solving ability, as well as diplomacy and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Access to one’s own transportation.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to develop and proof training materials.
  • Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees.
  • Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and training services to trainees.
  • Develop a plan of action with the trainee based on the Individual Service Plan (ISP) or Individual Employment Plan (IEP).
  • Utilize appropriate learning strategies.
  • Address trainee barriers and meet Funding Source/Trainee requirements.
  • Address trainee needs with appropriate interventions.
  • Conduct a task analysis and arrange tasks into sequential teachable components.
  • Monitor and teach appropriate work-related skills and behaviors in a work setting.
  • Identify employer or trainee concerns and resolve potential problems.
  • Ensure tasks are completed according to the established standard.
  • Conduct travel training and/or site duties, when needed.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with counselors and area employers.
  • Travel to trainee’s worksites.
  • Provide on-the-job support services such as demonstrating skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed on the job.
  • Identify and implement appropriate strategies for fading out services when providing job coaching and/or retention services.
  • Develop and maintain a training schedule to ensure that trainees and Workforce Development staff meet all requirements from the funding referring agency.
  • Maintain accessible and accurate training records for all training participants.
  • Represent Zanesville Welfare Organization and Goodwill Industries, Inc. in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Report regularly to your supervisor on trainees’ progress, using observation notes and case files.
  • Complete and submit accurately, within 5 business days of service completion dates, all required reporting forms, including hours worked.
  • Ensure trainee satisfaction and stakeholder satisfaction surveys are completed and in the good to excellent range.
  • Participate in staff training as required and assigned.
  • Participate in trainee staffing with referral counselor or other professionals.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures, ethics, and work toward the fulfillment of the Corporate Vision.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
