Job Coach | Part-Time
About The Position
Benchmark Human Services is seeking a Part-time Job Coach to provide training and support services to people with disabilities referred to Benchmark Human Services for community-based employment services. This position will cover Elkhart & St. Joseph Counties. The schedule is 20 hours per week and requires flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends. Benchmark Human Services has been connecting people and potential since 1960, empowering individuals to live independently, be included in their communities, and reach their full potential. The company is a respected leader in intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and behavioral health services.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable transportation required.
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Must have 3 years of continued and verifiable employment within 2 years of submitting an application.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with people with disabilities preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide intensive individualized training on specific skills needed to obtain employment and at specific community job sites.
- Provide support for individuals in dealing with co-workers and supervisors.
- Assess each person served to identify their strengths, then provide guidance and coaching on how to use those strengths to obtain employment and succeed in their chosen career path.
- Communicate with and educate employers regarding an individual's progress.
- Communicate regularly with Employment Consultants regarding client performance on jobs.
- Provide transportation for individuals as needed to support employment.
- Teach appropriate work behaviors and interpersonal skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
