About The Position

Under direction of the Transition Coordinator, provides support to students in the school setting and the community with transporting to job sites and vocational training. Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for vocational instructional training. Assists with the creation and maintenance of the students' vocational job service schedule. Performs job-coaching duties for school/community-based programs that provide realistic working environments for the students. Transports students to community or work experiences. Maintains the safety of students and vehicle. Remains current on certification to drive the vocational bus. Assists the students with creating and growing their vocational portfolios. A minimum of 90% of time must be spent working with students and no more that 10% of time spent on clerical functions. Assists students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher; tutors students at teacher's request. Collects behavioral or academic data as directed by supervising teacher of ongoing assessment purposes. Assists teacher with supervision of students in the classroom, playgrounds, assemblies, lunch periods, and on field trips as needed. Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher. Under the supervision of the teacher, implements IEP goals and objectives by assisting in the use and adaptation of a range of instructional and therapy techniques. Operates standard school equipment such as copier, laminator, and AV equipment as needed. Assists with escorting students to and from various rooms and locations. Maintains confidentiality of student records, meetings, and staff discussions and student evaluations. Helps students master instructional equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher, including assistive technology equipment. Is responsible for the daily care of each student's health needs, including tube feeding, catheterization, tracheotomy suctioning, as appropriate. Assists students with bathrooming, including changing diapers. Lifts and transfers students per instructed method. Provides emergency care, Basic First Aid, and CPR for the care of students if appropriate. Presents self in a manner that sets forth a role model for students to emulate. Maintains appropriate appearance and regular attendance. Promotes good public relations for the school district and community. Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation. Effectively completes other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

Certification to drive the vocational bus
Ability to lift and carry technology components.
Ability to speak and hear.
Ability to utilize the telephone and computer.
Basic First Aid and CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

Tube feeding, catheterization, tracheotomy suctioning experience.
Experience assisting students with bathrooming, including changing diapers.
