About The Position

BBYO is seeking a Jewish Educator for the Perlman Summer program, specifically for the International Leadership Training Conference (ILTC) and International Kallah. This is a 6-week program designed to enhance leadership skills and Jewish identity for teens. The ILTC focuses on leadership development for teen position-holders, while Kallah is a Jewish learning and spirituality institute. Both programs aim to provide enriching experiences for approximately 200 teens. The role involves teaching daily sessions, preparing educational materials, supporting teen-led Shabbat planning and programming, and fostering a pluralistic learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong Judaic knowledge, experience teaching Jewish content, proficiency in Jewish prayer, values, holidays, and rituals, and be an effective teacher and motivator with experience working with teens.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding teens to lead and participate in daily prayer experiences in creative and novel ways
  • Serving as a resource and providing guidance for teens in their preparation for Shabbat services and rituals, programs, and activities
  • Representing and teaching BBYO Culture, Jewish Values and Leadership, Judaic programming, Jewish identity
  • Inspiring teens to embrace their Jewish journey
  • Promoting and exemplifying BBYO’s pluralistic commitment
  • Help with evening programs when needed
  • Working with leadership staff and counselors to integrate the Educational Framework into overall programming
  • Working with the song leaders to ensure thoughtful and inspiring Shabbat atmosphere
  • Creating and executing Jewish enrichment sessions, daily rituals, and Shabbat (for both ILTC and Kallah)
  • Making sure program participants are on-time to all meals, classes, and events
  • Attending and helping to facilitate assigned activities as needed
  • Staying attentive to health issues and the overall well-being of participants
  • Being there for participants to answer questions and provide support
  • Working as part of the overall staff team
  • Creating a community and a positive, enjoyable experience for participants
  • Follow and Enforce all COVID camp guidelines
