About The Position

The JDP Clinical Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the clinical training and daily operations of the Joint Doctoral Program (JDP) in Clinical Psychology. Working closely with the Director of the SDSU Psychology Clinic/Clinical Practicum Coordinator, this position provides comprehensive administrative and operational support for the SDSU Psychology Clinic and the Doctoral Training Facility. Serving as the first point of contact for clients, students, faculty, and supervisors, the role helps create a welcoming, organized, and professional clinical environment while supporting critical functions related to practicum placements, clinical training coordination, and facility operations. Requirements

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students and clients receiving mental health services.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients seeking services in a community mental health clinic, including accurate provision of information about available services at the Clinic, initial determination of client suitability for the clinic or the need to refer to services elsewhere, identification of available alternate services in the community and communication of that information to clients, and initial enrollment of suitable individuals as clients in the clinic, including collecting intake information.
  • Ability to interact effectively with and provide instrumental and emotional support to clients of all ages in distress, both remotely (e.g., on the phone) and in person.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all Clinic and JDP information, including but not limited to client and student records.
  • Ability to establish and manage budgets, make budget projections, and maintain detailed financial records.
  • Ability to interact effectively and support training of PhD students in Clinical Psychology.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Must complete a background check (including a criminal records check) satisfactorily.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Experience working in a mental health clinic or other setting providing mental health services is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining confidential communications and confidential patient or student records is preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work when numerous demands are involved, demonstrating effective prioritization and task management abilities is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operations of the SDSU Psychology Clinic, including client scheduling, front desk support, billing, intake coordination, and maintaining a professional and confidential environment.
  • Support clinical training administration by tracking practicum placements, managing evaluations, maintaining training records, and coordinating liability insurance and Time2Track subscriptions.
  • Serve as a liaison with students, faculty, supervisors, and community training sites to support clinical education and program operations.
  • Oversee operational support for the Doctoral Training Facility, including room scheduling, supply management, facilities coordination, and account administration.
  • Maintain confidential clinic and student records in compliance with HIPAA, university policies, and program requirements.
