About The Position

The JAY:PRO Mentor will work directly with MYS staff, community organizations and systems, and youth and families to provide supervision, mentoring, and life skills development services to youth who are referred to JAY:PRO to assist with court-ordered community service requirements. Primary goals of MYS programs include: 1) Diversion of youth from child welfare and juvenile justice systems; 2) Preserve or reunify families; 3) Develop a continuum of comprehensive community-based youth services; 4) Close service gaps by identifying and addressing service voids; 5) Coordinate education, employment, training and other programs for youth; and 6) Encourage the use of volunteers and voluntary associations. 7) Assist youth and families in healing, recovery, and growth.

Requirements

  • Maintain client confidentiality to ensure the physical and emotional safety of youth and families.
  • Dress appropriately and professionally for each situation.
  • Maintain self in a responsible manner at all times.
  • Respect the position of coworkers and property of Midwest Youth Services.

Responsibilities

  • Model and mentor youth on each shift.
  • Engage with youth to teach essential job and life skill development while completing service tasks.
  • Transport youth to and from community service sites safety.
  • Supervise and mentor youth at sites.
  • Complete all documentation and reporting requirements per project guidelines outlined.
