JavaScript Developer

Turingβ€’San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Turing is hiring a JavaScript Developer to work as a Software Engineering evaluator on projects that train, benchmark, and advance large language models. The role involves collaborating closely with researchers to curate code examples, provide precise solutions, and correct code across Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript, including ReactJS. Particular emphasis is placed on systems-level code, performance-critical applications, and infrastructure. The evaluator will assess and refine AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, scalability, and reliability, and work with cross-functional teams to improve enterprise AI-driven coding solutions. The work also includes building agents and automated verification mechanisms for systems-level and infrastructure code, identifying error patterns, and evaluating model capabilities across stages of the software engineering lifecycle, from prototyping and architecture design through launch, monitoring, and operational maintenance. This is a flexible contractor engagement requiring a minimum of 10 hours per week and allowing up to 40 hours per week. The initial duration is one month, with possible extensions based on performance and fit. Candidates must be based in the United States. The application process takes 15–30 minutes and requires completion of an AI video interview. The contractor role does not include medical or paid leave.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
  • Strong expertise in systems programming, infrastructure, or backend development using languages such as JavaScript, Python, C/C++, Rust, or Go.
  • Experience building and deploying scalable, production-grade software using modern languages and tools.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design, development, debugging, and code quality and review assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for providing clear, structured evaluation rationales.
  • Must be based in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working at the frontier of AI, such as at OpenAI, NVIDIA, Databricks, Palantir, Snowflake, or similar organizations.
  • Graduation from a leading program such as Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, or a comparable institution; exceptional experience and skill take precedence over pedigree.

Responsibilities

  • Curate code examples, develop solutions, and correct code for AI model training initiatives across Python, C/C++, Rust, Go, Java, and JavaScript, including ReactJS.
  • Evaluate and refine AI-generated code for systems-level correctness, performance, efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve AI-driven coding solutions against industry performance benchmarks.
  • Build agents that verify the quality of systems-level and infrastructure code and identify error patterns.
  • Form hypotheses about software engineering lifecycle stages and evaluate model capabilities across those stages.
  • Design mechanisms that automatically verify solutions to software engineering tasks.
