About The Position

This position is responsible for the analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software including: Analyzing detailed business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for the application. The focus is on coding internally developed applications and/or configuring commercial-off-the-shelf applications using programming, scripting, and database languages. Relies on intermediate experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, including: Supporting application testing, deployment, maintenance, correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Exceptional customer service to users of IT technologies by understanding and anticipating customer needs. Supports the strategic mission of the IT function as it relates to goals for the organization. Helps to develop and maintain a staff that is professional, service oriented, and well trained to provide positive reinforcement, as well as, opportunities for growth and development. Leads teams by maximizing each person’s ability to make a positive impact. Develops leadership by delegating authority and responsibility while maintaining ultimate accountability. Provides feedback for staff, to help professional development plans and goals in a timely and effective manner. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 3 years programming experience.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and multi-task to meet deadlines.
Above average communication skills – verbal, written, and listening.

Nice To Haves

Computer Science degree preferred.
Intermediate understanding of Systems Analysis and Design is preferred.
Intermediate understanding of Core Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL strongly preferred.
Other related object oriented development experience may be substituted.
Intermediate understanding of JEE, Spring frameworks, or similar environment/frameworks preferred.
Intermediate understanding of JDBC and Hibernate preferred.
Familiar with IBM WebSphere Application Server or similar environment preferred.
Familiar with JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Angular, React, or Vue.js preferred.
Familiar with Eclipse IDE preferred.
Intermediate understanding of web services (SOAP and REST) preferred.
Familiar with XML and JSON preferred.
Familiarity with Agile project methodology preferred.

Responsibilities

Works with both business and other IT members to analyze, design, and develop application requirements and system specifications.
From analysis and general specifications, codes new programs, modifies existing programs, tests, and documents programs following published standards.
Participates in development or modification of conceptual, logical, and physical design architectural artifacts (documents, models, etc.).
Evaluates and recommends vendor application and development software.
Participates in and may prepare project plans and time estimates.
Researches, resolves, and documents incident reports.
Provides on-call support to production systems during off hours.
Tests all programs thoroughly following standard guidelines.
Performs production reviews.
Keeps informed on technology and insurance industry trends and developments.
May direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs.
Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.
Fulfills administrative reporting requirements.
Self-motivated and takes the initiative.
Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.
