This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns. The Fraud & Claims Technology team is seeking an experienced, hands-on Java Developer to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, and modern DevOps practices, along with the ability to lead technical solutions and mentor team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Java development experience, Java 17+ preferred, with experience in Java 8/11/17+ environments
  • Recent hands-on Java/Spring Boot experience and be capable of contributing directly to complex development and troubleshooting activities
  • Spring Boot and Spring Framework; REST APIs and Microservices Architecture
  • SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
  • Kafka, MQ, or other messaging platforms
  • Maven or Gradle and Git-based development
  • JUnit 5, Mockito, and automated unit/integration testing practices
  • Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools
  • Container platforms such as OpenShift and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Secure coding, code quality/static analysis, and vulnerability remediation experience
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, performance troubleshooting, and production support experience
  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • GitHub Copilot adoption with the ability to use AI-assisted development while maintaining coding, testing, security, and engineering standards

Nice To Haves

  • OAuth2, JWT, SSO, Spring Security, and application security
  • Monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or AppDynamics
  • SonarQube or similar code-quality tools

Responsibilities

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
  • Build and support scalable, high-performance microservices and APIs
  • Lead technical design discussions and architecture reviews
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-grade Java applications
