Java Developer

The Java Developer will join Engineers Gate, a leading systematic quantitative investment company, in their Exeter office. They will be part of a small and fast-moving team that is responsible for creating and supporting a cutting-edge research and trading platform. This platform is used by the company's researchers to develop advanced trading strategies and seamlessly transition them into live trading. The successful candidate should be highly motivated, skilled, and innovative, with several years of experience preferred but not required.

• Develop production code to enhance the research and trading platform, ensuring robustness against runtime errors.
• Collaborate with researchers to identify, define, implement, and test new requirements.
• Support the creation and maintenance of a performant and highly available system for advanced trading strategies.
• Facilitate a reliable, repeatable, and simple transition of models into live trading.
• Utilize Java 8 and various AWS technologies to build and deploy the platform.
• Optimize models, test and record results, and work with a wide range of datasets.
• Contribute to a small and fast-moving team with a flat management structure and minimal bureaucracy.
• Demonstrate high motivation, skill, and innovation in the role.
• Collaborate with the New York and Exeter offices to ensure seamless operation of the trading team.

• Experience in Java development
• Familiarity with Java 8
• Knowledge of AWS technologies such as Redshift, DynamoDB, RDS (Postgresql), Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Autoscaling
• Ability to develop production code for a research and trading platform
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work closely with researchers to identify, define, implement, and test new requirements
