Java Backend Developer
About The Position
As a Java Backend Developer assigned to the Job Role of Technology Consultant 1, you will contribute across the software development lifecycle. You will help capture and document stakeholder requirements, participate in design discussions, develop and document software, test applications, support feature integration, and monitor and troubleshoot live applications. You will also document coding practices, testing methodologies, and technical solutions to support the team’s knowledge repository. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining backend applications using Java and Spring Boot; building and consuming RESTful APIs and backend services; and working with relational databases and SQL. You will work in Unix/Linux environments and collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and business teams. The Infosys Engineering unit applies a data-first approach and uses technologies including AI, ML, and predictive analytics to improve engineering and delivery processes. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution. Three years of progressive experience in the specialty may be considered in lieu of each year of education. Relocation and/or travel to the work or project location may be required. Requirements
- Java, SQL, Spring Boot, and Unix skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution, or three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of each year of education.

- Ability to work across most areas of the SDLC lifecycle.

Responsibilities
- Assist with targeted interviews and workshops to capture user needs and accurately document stakeholder requirements.
- Participate in design discussions to capture software specifications and help create process documentation.
- Develop, refine, and document code for new software applications according to detailed design specifications and user requirements.
- Execute test plans, analyze outcomes, and report defects to the development team.
- Support integration of new software features into existing system infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot live applications, resolve issues promptly, and document system maintenance.
- Document coding practices, testing methodologies, and technical solutions for the team’s knowledge repository.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Write efficient SQL queries and work with relational databases.
- Work in Unix/Linux environments for deployments, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Perform unit testing and code reviews, and support integration testing.
- Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and business teams.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Follow Agile/Scrum development practices and SDLC standards.
