About The Position

This role is for a Java Architect responsible for driving the modernization and transformation strategy of legacy systems to cloud-native microservices. The architect will partner with customer strategists and leaders to create a phased execution plan, define technology evolution, and establish a reference architecture. A key focus will be on AI-assisted engineering adoption to accelerate modernization. The role requires balancing business priorities with technical debt reduction and ensuring incremental value realization. The architect will also govern architecture standards and act as the primary onshore transformation anchor, influencing the customer's future state operating model.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Java.
  • 6+ years of experience in microservices based architectures.
  • 5+ years of experience in transitioning legacy Java EE platforms to cloud native.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the overall modernization and transformation strategy, aligning legacy modernization with the customer's long term digital and cloud roadmap.
  • Partner closely with customer strategists, enterprise architects, and business leaders to translate transformation vision into a pragmatic, phased execution plan.
  • Lead the architectural transition from monolithic Java EE systems to cloud native microservices, ensuring scalability, resilience, and future readiness.
  • Define a technology and platform evolution strategy, covering backend services, UI integration, cloud adoption, and AI enablement.
  • Establish a reference architecture and modernization blueprint, guiding backend, UI, DevOps, and integration teams across geographies.
  • Drive AI assisted engineering adoption (LLMs, prompt driven analysis, automated documentation) as a strategic accelerator for modernization outcomes.
  • Balance business priorities, technical debt reduction, and transformation velocity, ensuring incremental value realization at each phase.
  • Govern architecture standards, design principles, and modernization best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across teams.
  • Act as the primary onshore transformation anchor, providing technical clarity, risk mitigation, and confidence to customer stakeholders.
  • Influence and shape the customer's future state operating model, including cloud, AI adoption, and engineering maturity improvements.
