About The Position

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking a Java Application Architect to architect, design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications and distributed systems at significant scale and across multiple business domains. The role covers the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, from translating business requirements into technical designs and writing production-quality code to deploying cloud-native services and supporting them throughout their operational lifespan. The successful candidate will bring backend expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, alongside hands-on experience building responsive, component-driven front-end applications with modern JavaScript frameworks. The role works closely with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and developers in an Agile environment to deliver secure, high-quality, performant applications that support strategic business outcomes. The position is 100% remote in the U.S., full-time, and direct W2, with an annual salary range of $100,000–$150,000. The employer cannot sponsor new H-1B visa petitions; U.S. citizens, green card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Five or more years of professional software development experience building production-grade enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, computational complexity, and end-to-end system design principles.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Java versions 11 and 17, Spring Boot, and clean, idiomatic RESTful API design.
  • Production-level experience designing and operating microservices architectures, including service decomposition, inter-service communication, and observability patterns.
  • Experience developing front-end applications using React.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server, including query tuning and schema design.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and Git-based version control workflows, including branching strategies, code reviews, and release management.
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including familiarity with managed services, networking, and identity primitives.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills, including methodical investigation and clear documentation of findings.

Nice To Haves

  • Working familiarity with Angular or Vue.
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Exposure to distributed system design principles such as eventual consistency, CAP trade-offs, idempotency, and saga patterns.
  • Experience writing automation tests using modern frameworks and contributing to test-driven and behavior-driven development practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine scalable, independently deployable, observable Java 11/17 and Spring Boot microservices aligned with enterprise architecture.
  • Write secure, tested, production-quality code that follows coding standards and design patterns and incorporates input validation, authentication, and encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Develop responsive, component-based front-end applications using React or equivalent frameworks, with attention to user experience, accessibility, browser compatibility, and desktop and mobile performance.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations, including service contracts, versioning, and error-handling semantics.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions and assess trade-offs involving scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Measure and optimize application performance, database queries, JVM parameters, and API throughput; identify bottlenecks and apply targeted improvements.
  • Implement and maintain front-end state management patterns such as Redux, Context API, or NgRx.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, contract, and functional tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Jest, and Cypress.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Identify bottlenecks, technical debt, and architectural weaknesses, and drive remediation through refactoring proposals, design documents, and engineering initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, standups, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, deployment guides, and runbooks.
