About The Position

As a Team Lead Trainer, you'll spend your day training, coaching, and supporting team members in janitorial and facility maintenance duties while working alongside them to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently. You will demonstrate proper cleaning techniques, provide hands-on instruction with equipment and cleaning products, and help employees build the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Throughout the day, you'll monitor work quality, answer questions, encourage teamwork, and provide individualized support to employees, including individuals with disabilities. By leading through example and fostering a positive work environment, you'll play an important role in helping your team deliver exceptional custodial services while achieving their professional goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working in the human services field providing mentorship, support, or coaching to individuals with disabilities.
  • Previous experience leading, training, or supervising custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide individualized coaching and support tailored to each employee's specific needs.
  • Experience creating and implementing training and development programs.
  • Strong team-building, decision-making, verbal communication, active listening, and time management skills.
  • Patience and empathy when training and supporting employees with diverse learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds.

  • Obtaining and maintaining the appropriate Security Clearance is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull cleaning equipment and supplies weighing up to 20-30 pounds regularly, and occasionally from 50-75 pounds.
  • Navigating stairs, ramps, or uneven flooring safely while carrying tools or supplies.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and solvents—training is provided to ensure safe handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is always required.
  • May encounter biohazardous materials or bodily fluids (especially in healthcare or public restrooms) with proper safety protocols and PPE in place.
  • Working in confined or awkward spaces such as under sinks, behind furniture, or inside equipment areas may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supervising, training, or leading custodial or janitorial teams.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a human services environment.
  • Knowledge of floor care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet extraction.
  • Experience ordering supplies, managing inventory, and maintaining equipment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards, workplace safety practices, and PPE requirements.
  • Bilingual communication skills.
  • Experience conducting employee training, performance coaching, or workplace development programs.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including email, scheduling, and recordkeeping.
  • Experience working in government, commercial, healthcare, or large-facility environments.
  • Active security clearance or previous experience working in a secure government facility.
