About The Position

The Principal Function of this role is to perform janitorial/custodial and housekeeping responsibilities in various areas of the Conner Prairie Museum, including the Museum Experience Center, Clowes Common, Bayt, Necessary, Amenities, Facilities Building Restrooms, and Presidents House, along with other inside and outside areas of the property. The role may involve working during special and scheduled events/programs to assist with custodial and housekeeping duties. This position can be full-time or part-time, including flex/seasonal positions, and may involve day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, depending on organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous custodial or housekeeping experience desired.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty according to the requirements of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and empty trash in the Museum Center offices, restrooms, work areas, public areas, and break rooms, putting trash into the dumpster.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms on grounds, including Clowes Commons, Bayt, Necessary, Amenities, Facilities, President’s House, and the Welcome Center.
  • Clean, polish, and disinfect lavatories, fixtures, urinals, commodes, mirrors, and other frequently touched areas in restrooms.
  • Replenish supplies in all restrooms.
  • Provide support for Conner Prairie's recycling program.
  • Maintain the entrances to the Museum Center, including front doors, main entrance, and employee entrance areas.
  • Keep all supply rooms at the Museum Center, Bayt, Necessary, Amenities, Facilities Building, and Presidents House stocked.
  • Uphold the mission and policies of Conner Prairie.
  • Maintain attendance standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with others.

  • Practice safe work habits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
