About The Position

The Janitorial Services Technician maintains a clean, orderly, safe, and professional manufacturing facility by performing routine janitorial duties in designated non-production and support areas. This position reports directly to the Sanitation Supervisor and follows approved site cleaning schedules, chemical controls, safety requirements, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Requirements

  • Prior custodial or janitorial experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, healthcare, or commercial environment is preferred.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Basic knowledge of janitorial methods, cleaning chemicals, SDS information, dilution controls, and safe equipment operation.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize cleanliness deficiencies, facility damage, and potential safety or food-safety hazards.
  • Ability to maintain clear separation between janitorial activities and production equipment sanitation responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain offices, conference rooms, breakrooms, cafeterias, restrooms, locker rooms, hallways, stairwells, entrances, and other assigned common areas.
  • Sweep, dry mop, wet mop, vacuum, spot clean, and maintain floors using approved tools, chemicals, and methods.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, tables, chairs, dispensers, and shared fixtures according to the site schedule.
  • Clean mirrors, interior glass, doors, walls, partitions, and other non-food-contact surfaces as assigned.
  • Restock soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, hand sanitizer, and other approved janitorial supplies.
  • Maintain entrances and designated exterior walkways by removing litter and reporting snow, ice, standing water, or other hazards.
  • Collect, segregate, transport, and dispose of trash and recycling in designated containers and locations.
  • Replace liners and clean waste receptacles as required while preventing leakage, overflow, and cross-contamination.
  • Follow site requirements for handling broken glass, sharps, chemical waste, allergen-containing waste, or other special waste; immediately contact supervision when uncertain.
  • Follow all site safety rules, traffic patterns, PPE requirements, emergency procedures, and GMP expectations applicable to the area being serviced.
  • Use only approved and properly labeled chemicals. Follow label directions, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), required dilution, and chemical storage and segregation rules.
  • Place wet-floor signs or barriers before and during work and remove them only after the hazard has been eliminated.
  • Prevent janitorial tools, chemicals, carts, and waste from entering restricted production or food-contact areas unless specifically authorized.
  • Immediately report spills, pest activity, leaks, plumbing issues, damaged fixtures, unusual odors, unsafe conditions, or signs of contamination to the Sanitation Supervisor.
  • Inspect janitorial carts, vacuums, floor machines, mops, and other tools before use; report defects and remove unsafe equipment from service.
  • Clean, dry, and store janitorial tools in designated locations after use. Keep the janitorial closet secured, orderly, labeled, and free from incompatible materials.
  • Monitor supply levels and notify the Sanitation Supervisor when replenishment is needed.
  • Complete assigned cleaning schedules, checklists, inspection records, or other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Cooperate with inspections, audits, corrective actions, and retraining activities related to assigned janitorial responsibilities.
