About The Position

The Maintenance/Janitor (Unskilled) position is responsible for performing janitorial/maintenance duties within the Oakland Arena and Oakland -Alameda County Coliseum. This is a Part Time, Union position, starting at $20.91 per hour. The role requires the ability to work irregular extended hours, including nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays. The company reserves the right to change or modify the employee's job description and may require an employee to perform duties outside of their normal description.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning products and proper cleaning techniques, or willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry items of varying weight up to and including 100 pounds.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Valid California Driver's License (required for Equipment Operator).
  • Ability to pass forklift certification (required for Equipment Operator).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, sinks, countertops, and refrigerators.
  • Dust and clean interior windowsills/windows and any other areas in need of cleaning.
  • Empty trash cans, replace liners, clean receptacles, and recycle as instructed.
  • Use industrial chemicals and equipment to clean a variety of surfaces.
  • Finish all assigned work within the allotted time and in a satisfactory manner.
  • Notify leads and/or supervisors of all cleaning tasks neglected.
  • Leave all work areas clean and in order.
  • Adhere to AEG policies and procedures, including company-wide sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all Legends Global/OCJV/Cal OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Drive tractors (tugger) and trucks safely without causing damage to vehicles, property, or persons (for skilled janitor).
  • Push and pull full 3-yard containers over uneven ground (for skilled janitor).
  • Operate street sweepers, push and ride on floor scrubbers (for skilled janitor).
  • Execute maintenance equipment checklist before operating machinery (for skilled janitor).
  • Maintain equipment and report all damages (for skilled janitor).
  • Sort cardboard and compost from trash (for Bin Yard Crew).
  • Report contaminated recycle streams to lead and/or supervisor (for Bin Yard Crew).
  • Operate a 20-yard compactor according to manufacturer's instructions (for Bin Yard Crew).
  • Clean bin yard at the beginning and end of each shift (for Bin Yard Crew).
  • Communicate with Equipment Operators when 20 and 30-yard containers are full (for Bin Yard Crew).
  • Demonstrate expertise in use of all window-cleaning techniques and equipment (for Window Washer).
  • Work with a 40-foot tucker pole for up to 8 hours per day (for Window Washer).
  • Restore calcium etched windows as requested, utilizing power equipment and specialized chemicals (for Window Washer).
  • Operate hydraulic lifts up to 80-feet and perform cleaning tasks up to 8 hours per day (for Window Washer).
  • Set up and operate scaffolding (for Window Washer).
  • Ensure all windows are closed, doors shut and lights are out after tasks are completed (for Window Washer).
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of types and methods of painting (for Painting & Repair Duties).
  • Repair dry wall including mudding and texturing (for Painting & Repair Duties).
  • Paint all types of surfaces, matching proper sealers and paints to surface as well as stripping of surface as appropriate (for Painting & Repair Duties).
  • Operate all types of carpet extractors (for Carpet Cleaner).
  • Use proper cleaning chemicals for various types of carpet and upholstery (for Carpet Cleaner).
  • Demonstrate expertise in water damage and restoration (for Carpet Cleaner).
  • Demonstrate the ability to properly use floor stripper and waxing chemicals (for Floor Waxer).
  • Show expertise in all floor stripping and waxing methods (for Floor Waxer).
  • Operate all buffers, speed buffers and auto scrubbers without damaging equipment or property (for Floor Waxer).
  • Re-set rooms as required after performing cleaning tasks (for Floor Waxer).
