About The Position

The primary purpose of the Janitor is to maintain assigned cleaning areas in a safe, sanitary, orderly and customary manner according to AbilityOne project site contracts standards.

Requirements

Minimum of one-year experience in the housekeeping/janitorial service industry preferred.
Ability to follow detailed work schedule.
Requires acceptable results of all required background checks.
Must be flexible and able to work as part of a team.
Willing to work hours/shifts of the industry.

Responsibilities

Removes and disposes of trash, including emptying trash barrels, replacing liners, and disposing of trash in an outside dumpster.
Vacuums public and office areas, preparing floors by removing debris and cleaning/replacing vacuum bags.
Sweeps public and office areas, collecting dirt into a dustpan and placing it in the trash barrel.
Mops public, office, and restroom areas, preparing floors by sweeping or dust mopping, using appropriate chemicals, and cleaning mops and buckets.
Cleans restrooms and locker rooms, including fixtures, mirrors, replenishing supplies, polishing metal surfaces, spot cleaning walls and partitions, and mopping floors.
Strips and finishes floors, which involves moving furniture, applying stripper and finish, and returning furniture to its original position.
Follows a detailed cleaning schedule according to the project site contract.
Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and complaints to the immediate supervisor or Project Manager.
Ensures that designated cleaning areas are free of cleaning equipment and supplies.
Ensures that all cleaning equipment and supplies are properly stored at the end of a shift and/or workday.
Maintains a positive working relationship with Federal Government employees while providing a customer service atmosphere.
Performs other duties as assigned.
