About The Position

ServiceSource is a nonprofit organization that champions people with disabilities and hires individuals with significant disabilities for many of its direct labor positions. The Janitor role is responsible for maintaining the building's interior and exterior by providing comprehensive custodial services. This role is crucial for ensuring the health, safety, and security of the public and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. The Janitor reports to the Lead Worker and is supported by the Assistant Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • At least one (1) year custodial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of the use of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of chemicals and products preferred.
  • Team building preferred.
  • Decision making skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures.
  • Wash windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
  • Sweep, scrub, clean, and vacuum carpets and furniture.
  • Resupply soap and paper products in restrooms and other amenities.
  • Maintain building accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash.
  • Remove trash by emptying trash containers, transporting materials to disposal areas, and collecting recycling materials.
  • Keep equipment operational by following operating and care guidelines, completing operator repairs and parts replacement.
  • Perform cleaning based on frequencies and schedules unless otherwise requested by supervisor.
  • Report refusals of services or access that impact cleaning frequencies and schedules to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work closely and communicate positively and professionally with co-workers, lead workers, and management.
  • Maintain continuity between shifts by documenting cleaning actions and noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
