About The Position

This position is part of the AbilityOne Program and requires a documented disability. The Janitor independently cleans restrooms, offices, break rooms, locker rooms, kitchenettes/pantries, showers, stairwells, corridors, elevators/escalators, and other work areas. Duties involve a combination of sweeping, mopping floors; removing trash and other materials for recycling; dusting furniture or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; and replenishing restroom supplies.

Requirements

  • Must have a documented disability.
  • High School diploma/GED or 6 months previous custodial work experience
  • Ability to carry out simple but detailed instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers.
  • Must possess a positive team member attitude.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees with disabilities.
  • Ability to work in environments with narrow, moving, and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Familiarity with small equipment and supplies (both power and mechanical).
  • Access to the work site for this position may require a valid Real ID as of May 7th, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans offices, corridors, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, elevators, escalators, break room, library, kitchenette, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweeps floors using brooms, and mops.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using a vacuum cleaner.
  • Dust furniture and equipment.
  • Polishes metalwork such as fixtures and fittings.
  • Washes walls, ceiling, woodwork, door panels, and sills.
  • Litter collection – includes cigarette butts, food remnants, food wrappers, food containers, beverage containers (bottles, cans, cartons), napkins, paper (including straw wrappers), and any additional solid waste that is on the ground.
  • Empties wastebaskets and transports trash to the disposal area and recycle it to designated areas.
  • Replenishes restroom supplies.
  • Required to report for work punctually, work all scheduled hours, and any required overtime as deemed necessary.
  • Responsible for producing quality work.
  • Responsible for appropriate conduct and demeanor as dictated by Didlake policy.
  • Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
  • Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.
