About The Position

The Maintenance/Janitor (Unskilled) position is responsible for performing janitorial/maintenance duties within the Oakland Arena and Oakland -Alameda County Coliseum. This is a Part Time, Union position, starting at $20.91 per hour.

Requirements

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning products and proper cleaning techniques, or willing to learn.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry items of varying weight up to and including 100 pounds.
  • Clean driving Valid California Driver's License (required for Equipment Operator).
  • Ability to pass forklift certification (required for Equipment Operator).

Nice To Haves

  • Janitor (Skilled) may perform one or more additional functions including: Drive tractors (tugger) and trucks safely without causing damage to vehicles, property or persons.
  • Push and pull full 3-yard containers over uneven ground.
  • Operate street sweepers, push and ride on floor scrubbers.
  • Execute maintenance equipment checklist before operating machinery.
  • Maintain equipment and report all damages.
  • Bin Yard Crew: Push and pull full 3-yard containers over uneven surfaces.
  • Hoist 40 -- 60 pounds from ground level to 7-feet.
  • Sort cardboard and compost from trash.
  • Report contaminated recycle streams to lead and/or supervisor.
  • Operate a 20-yard compactor according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Clean bin yard at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Communicate with Equipment Operators when 20 and 30-yard containers are full.
  • Window Washer: Demonstrate expertise in use of all window-cleaning techniques and use of equipment.
  • Work with a 40-foot tucker pole for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Restore calcium etched windows as requested, utilizing power equipment and specialized chemicals.
  • Operate hydraulic lifts up to 80-feet and perform cleaning tasks up to 8 hours per day.
  • Setup and operate scaffolding.
  • Ensure all windows are closed, doors shut and lights are out after tasks are completed.
  • Painting & Repair Duties: Demonstrate full knowledge of types and methods of painting.
  • Repair dry wall including mudding and texturing.
  • Paint all types of surfaces, matching proper sealers and paints to surface as well as stripping of surface as appropriate.
  • Carpet Cleaner: Operate all types of carpet extractors.
  • Use proper cleaning chemicals for various types of carpet and upholstery.
  • Demonstrate expertise in water damage and restoration.
  • Floor Waxer: Demonstrate the ability to properly use floor stripper and waxing chemicals.
  • Show expertise in all floor stripping and waxing methods.
  • Operate all buffers, speed buffers and auto scrubbers without damaging equipment or property.
  • Re-set rooms as required after performing cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance duties as assigned (vacuum, sweep, mop floors, clean/sanitation bathrooms, sinks, counter tops and refrigerators; dust and clean interior windowsills/windows and any other areas in need of cleaning.
  • Empty trash cans, replace liners and clean receptacles; recycle as instructed.
  • Use industrial chemical and equipment to clean a variety of surfaces.
  • Finish all assigned work within allotted time and in a satisfactory manner.
  • Responsible for notifying leads and/or supervisors of all cleaning tasks neglected.
  • Leave all work areas clean and in order.
  • Adhere to AEG policies and procedures including company wide sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all Legends Global/OCJV/Cal OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work irregular extended hours -- includes nights (graveyard shifts), weekends, and holidays.
