About The Position

North Wind Services is seeking individuals to support national security within science, technology, and engineering fields as part of their supplemental labor team at federal research and development installations for the Department of Energy. North Wind Services has a history of contributing to customer missions. Available opportunities range from administrative and logistical support to advanced technical positions. Qualified applicants must be US citizens, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including physical, drug screen, and/or background investigation for Department of Energy clearance. Successful candidates will be employees of North Wind Services, a government contractor focused on employing motivated personnel to advance the missions of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. While employed by North Wind Services, employees will take day-to-day directions from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. North Wind Services provides pay, benefits, Human Resources, and Employment Management functions. The Operations and Business Directorate has an opening for a Custodian to perform custodial tasks within the Laboratory’s facilities. Due to unique hazards, the candidate must complete site-specific safety training and adhere to all safety and security requirements. These are full-time, day shift positions in the Facility Site Services Division of the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department. This position may require work at Site 300 in Tracy, California, and requires full-time on-site presence.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Experience in cleaning tasks, such as, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, removing trash and sanitizing restrooms and kitchens.
  • Experience utilizing and operating equipment and cleaning chemicals associated with custodial work and the ability to complete job-specific training.
  • Ability to work on a variety of custodial assignments in all types of environments (office, commercial/industrial, shops, and laboratories), including inside and outside of buildings.
  • Ability to identify, understand, and adhere to written instructions, facility signage, and health, safety, and security regulations.
  • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment adhering to assigned task schedules and demonstrated flexibility and willingness to accept change of assignment, start time, shift, and the ability to work overtime to accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the demands of the work schedule, including the ability to get to assigned work locations within the Laboratory.
  • Demonstrated integrity and customer service skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Possess basic knowledge of computers to complete timekeeping and online training.
  • Must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physical, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial tasks inside and outside buildings, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, removing trash, and replenishing supplies.
  • Apply skills and knowledge of equipment and supplies applicable to vacuums, brooms, mops, and cleaning products.
  • Provide good customer service and effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Request and stock supplies and maintain custodian closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
  • Maintain custodial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
  • Ensure proper labeling, dilution, and use of chemicals.
  • Apply environmental, safety and health requirements in daily tasks.
  • Maintain compliance with institutional and job-specific required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
