About The Position

The Janitor 2nd Shift plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our facilities during the evening hours. This position ensures that all assigned areas are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and well-maintained to support the health and safety of employees, visitors, and clients. The janitor will be responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks, handling waste disposal, and reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly. Working primarily during the second shift, the role requires a high level of independence, attention to detail, and reliability to ensure that the facility is ready for the next business day. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall operational efficiency and positive image of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during the 2nd shift hours.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, and safe handling procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work.
  • Experience working in a commercial or industrial cleaning environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance.
  • Certification in the use of specialized cleaning equipment or chemicals.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with team members.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work additional hours or shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper in restrooms and other designated areas.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or security concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed within the assigned shift and maintain accurate records of work performed.
