About The Position

A Janitor is responsible for keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. The role involves cleaning building interiors and work areas, maintaining restrooms and supplies, handling trash and recycling, and following safety procedures. The employee may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, electrical shock risks, and vibration. Noise levels are usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Demonstrate attendance and punctuality.
Follow instructions and management direction; take responsibility for actions and keep commitments.
Complete tasks on time or notify the appropriate person with an alternate plan.
Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.

Responsibilities

Clean building interiors, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and general areas.
Vacuum, sweep, and mop offices, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairs, locker rooms, and other work areas.
Remove stains from chairs and upholstered furniture.
Dust furniture, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and moldings.
Empty and clean trash cans and ashtrays.
Disinfect commonly used items such as desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies there and in other required areas.
Wash and clean windows and mirrors.
Move trash and recycling containers to the disposal area.
Clean trash and snow from sidewalks when necessary.
Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and request missing materials from supervisors when applicable.
Notify supervisors about unsafe conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.
Maintain a cleaning chart showing areas cleaned and inspected.
Follow safety and precaution rules.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Close doors at the end of the night shift.
