About The Position

The Janitor Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision and implementation of base janitorial service, QC, Safety and general supervision of the assigned team. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with APSI’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This is a working supervisor position, meaning the individual may be called upon to perform janitorial tasks in addition to their supervisory duties. The work area includes all areas of the facility and may involve exposure to industrial chemicals. The position requires supporting management and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must have a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to obtain an EM 381-1-1 Certification.
  • Must possess skills to read, write and comprehend English.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to pass a background and or Govt. security clearance.
  • Must have knowledge and supervisory skills necessary to plan daily work and motivate employees to successfully perform assigned duties.
  • Must have the ability to manage time efficiently, work with multiple supervisors and managers, as well as maintain schedules.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a team environment and outsourced support teams.
  • Must have computer experience.
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions including keyboard entry, and work processing are essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel and OneDrive and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the janitors assigned to the shift to ensure safety, quality control and responsiveness.
  • Assist the Project Manager in conducting on-the-job training for janitors in a professional manner.
  • Treat all employees, client staff, and vendors with respect.
  • Direct corrective action when necessary.
  • Report any personnel, quality, or safety problems to the Project Manager if correction requires personnel action or modification to policies and procedures.
  • Model safety awareness on the job.
  • Ensure that employees receive keys and required supplies to perform their duties.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • Communicate in a manner that promotes teamwork, while briefing the oncoming shift of what needs to be performed.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics while performing duties.
  • Ensure coverage by calling on-call employees as required.
  • Adhere to established “Universal Precaution/Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.”
  • Maintain and utilize the proper personal protective equipment for the task being performed.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Abide by work schedules and attendance policies.
  • Sweep/dust mop uncarpeted floors.
  • Vacuum carpets and rugs.
  • Clean mats.
  • Spray clean and buff floors.
  • Wet mop.
  • Strip coat, buff.
  • Deep clean carpets and rugs.
  • Clean under raised floors.
  • Hose down, scrub, squeegee/mop.
  • Responsible for trash removal and cleaning of containers.
  • Assure that all areas are cleaned as per daily schedule.
  • Respond to overhead paging system, and radio.
  • Complete floor care as scheduled.
  • Perform low and high dusting of assigned areas, which includes but not limited to: vents, lights, telephones, desks, ledges, windows and furniture.
  • Sweep exterior entry ways and walkways, clean exterior signs and plaques.
  • Complete weekly checklist and submit it to supervisor.
  • Report broken items or equipment for repairs.
  • Use discretion when handling confidential materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with work schedules and company policies and procedures.
  • Follow established procedure methods for handling and mixing chemicals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure work performed meets the Governments’ and Ahtna Integrated Services, Inc.’s standards of performance.
