About The Position

To maintain the facility and grounds in a manner consistent with the requirements of the complex facility manager while meeting all local, state or federal requirements. This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of offices and production areas by maintaining a clean work area following the master sanitation schedule. The role involves managing chemicals and cleaning supplies inventory, understanding safety labels and preventative practices, and participating as a member of the team to foster cohesiveness and implement team concepts. The Janitor must be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems and perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.
  • Must be able to walk, stoop, sit, squat, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 75 lbs. in weight, lifting from floor to crown multiple times daily.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine finger manipulation of small objects.
  • Must be able to work comfortably in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work on feet for entire shift.
  • Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection, hair net, safety glasses, dust mask and any other protective equipment required or needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure cleanliness of offices and production areas by maintaining a clean work area following the master sanitation schedule.
  • Manage chemicals and cleaning supplies inventory, monitoring usage and communicating levels to the manager.
  • Read and understand safety labels, preventative practices, and precautions for hazardous substances, following all established safety procedures including Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP) guidelines.
  • Participate as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plan, budget, and policy changes.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bring them to the attention of the team leader, and work with the team to resolve issues.
  • Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity and the position's role in supporting these systems.
  • Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding the impact of individual actions on the systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
