About The Position

Performs repair and replacement work in electrical, plumbing, painting and welding for the county correctional facility’s buildings, structural components and equipment; designs and fabricates items and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years of experience in plumbing, electrical work, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Requires a valid driver license.

Nice To Haves

  • Arc Welding certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and replaces electrical, plumbing, structural components and equipment (i.e., jail doors, cameras, washing machines, kettles, dryers, stoves, air conditioners, toilets, sinks, telephones, sprinkler systems).
  • Designs, fabricates and welds equipment and other items.
  • Directs the work of an inmate crew or individual inmates as needed.
  • Maintains and ensures the safe operating condition of assigned equipment, tools and vehicles according to established department policy and sound trade practices.
  • Performs various record maintenance duties as required (i.e., work orders, materials and supplies utilized, cost estimates, labor required, maintenance logs, fuel logs).
  • Operates man lifts up to 28 feet.
  • Reports any detected deterioration, repair needs and/or maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Assists with the planning, estimating and coordination of more complex tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
