About The Position

The Penn State Dickinson Law Admissions Office is seeking a part-time, remote J.D. application reviewer. The ideal candidate would be able to devote 6-10 hours a week working from home with a goal of reviewing 20-30 files per week using the Law School Admission Council’s proprietary Unite system. The temporary appointment will begin on or around October 1, 2026, and end on June 30, 2027 or sooner depending on application volume. The pay rate will be $25 per hour. Reviewers will review applications for both the Carlisle and University Park locations.

Requirements

  • A quiet and secure work environment which protects the confidentiality of applicants’ information is required.
  • Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing admission applications and making recommendations or rendering decisions
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school is not required but would be helpful
  • Thorough knowledge of admissions best practices
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, time-management and communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of proper grammar and attention to detail
  • Excellent critical thinking and reading comprehension skills

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and writing summaries on applications to Penn State Dickinson Law’s Juris Doctor program
  • Using holistic evaluation methods to make a comprehensive assessment of each candidate
  • Understanding institutional objectives and making recommendations in support of such
  • Providing feedback on relevant aspects of applications
  • Keeping accurate notes and file management in the application management database
  • Selecting an admit, waitlist, or deny recommendation for each applicant
  • Other duties as required
