About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our ITS/Traffic Engineering Team. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Orlando, FL. The role involves designing and developing plans and drawings for ITS/Traffic design projects and Traffic studies, including traffic signal design, fiber optic communications cable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and pavement marking design, traffic safety studies, railroad crossing safety, and traffic modeling. The engineer will organize and conduct engineering investigations, prepare straightforward sections of reports under supervision, and provide engineering services during construction by reviewing shop drawings, preparing progress reports, and observing construction procedures. Responsibilities also include researching feasibility of alternative design approaches, contributing to specifications and permit applications, preparing estimates, performing quality control checks, coordinating with other disciplines, and performing field observations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil or Electrical Engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • E.I or EIT

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops plans and drawings for ITS/Traffic design projects and Traffic studies.
  • Organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Prepares straightforward sections of complex reports under periodic review.
  • Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings, preparing records and progress reports, and observing construction procedures.
  • Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications.
  • Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost, and material quantity estimates.
  • Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines.
  • Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
  • Performs other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor(s).
