About The Position

The IT Web Specialist provides strategic leadership, consultation, and project management for UTIA’s public-facing websites and digital presence. The position leads website strategy, development, governance, accessibility, and continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with institutional goals, branding standards, and user experience best practices. As a primary resource for content managers and website contributors, the specialist provides training, guidance, and support in content management, accessibility, usability, and web governance. The position partners with stakeholders across the Institute to manage website initiatives, evaluate digital performance, and implement sustainable, user-centered solutions that strengthen UTIA’s online presence. This position reports to the Director of IT Solutions in UTIA's Information Technology Services (ITS) department.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, web design, communications, education, or a related field, and three years of relevant experience.
Experience managing and improving public-facing websites using content management systems, web standards, accessibility practices, analytics, and SEO.
Ability to apply user experience, usability, accessibility, information architecture, and content strategy principles to create effective digital experiences.
Experience training, supporting, and collaborating with content managers and stakeholders in a decentralized environment.
Ability to manage multiple website projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining quality and consistency.
Strong communication, presentation, customer service, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

Five years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of higher education, Extension, research, or public-sector web environments.
Experience leading website redesigns, migrations, and digital modernization initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to conduct accessibility and usability assessments and develop remediation recommendations.
Experience developing governance standards, training programs, and content management resources.

Responsibilities

Lead the strategy, development, enhancement, and governance of UTIA’s public-facing websites.
Partner with stakeholders to deliver accessible, user-centered, and brand-compliant digital experiences.
Provide expertise in website architecture, content strategy, user experience, accessibility, SEO, and digital communications.
Lead website redesigns, migrations, major enhancements, and continuous improvement efforts informed by analytics, accessibility reviews, and stakeholder feedback.
Promote web standards, governance, and emerging best practices to strengthen UTIA’s digital presence.
Serve as the primary resource for content managers and website contributors across the Institute.
Develop and deliver training, documentation, and support resources that enable effective website management.
Train and coach stakeholders in CMS use, accessibility, usability, content strategy, publishing workflows, and web governance.
Develop standards, best practices, and governance resources that promote quality, consistency, accessibility, and sustainability.
Consult with departments on website goals, digital strategy, and improvement opportunities while managing multiple website initiatives and stakeholder relationships.
