About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) aims to protect and promote the health of its residents and ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services. This position, located in either East Baton Rouge or Caddo Parish, offers an opportunity to utilize exceptional skills and make a high impact by supporting the daily operations of the Disability Determinations Services (DDS). The role involves serving as a Network Administrator and Systems Support for the Local Area Network (LAN) within the Disability Determinations Area Office, providing continuous technical support. The ideal candidate will have opportunities to display and expand their knowledge and skills in ways that significantly help DDS continue to provide quality service to the community.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in information technology; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in information technology; OR An associate's degree in information technology plus one year of experience in information technology; OR A bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in information technology.
  • A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field.
  • Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
  • A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide support for various system servers, printers, and hardware.
  • Install and utilize system tools for tracking and support of system activity.
  • Coordinate and communicate with SSA, LDH, and HP support as needed.
  • Set up and configure all DDS equipment and networks.
  • Provide troubleshooting of hardware problems and analysis of findings to management.
  • Initiate and coordinate replacement of obsolete equipment and disposal of network components.
  • Design and support special databases, spreadsheets, and templates.
  • Maintain a current inventory database of all equipment, users, and network cabling.
  • Complete oversight of new hire, termination, and user change IT activities, ensuring all equipment and clearances are received and all steps are taken.
