About The Position

The El Paso-Teller County 9-1-1 Authority is seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to collaborate with a diverse and talented team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter who takes initiative and drives results. The candidate will be responsible for technology systems support, software & hardware maintenance & installation, and supporting the execution of technology initiatives that align with and support the Authority’s mission, operational goals, and business needs.

Requirements

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, network engineering, computer information systems, or another related field is required.
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in a related field.
Cybersecurity techniques and monitoring
Operations, services, and activities of an Information Systems Technician.
Methods and techniques used in troubleshooting various computer application problems.
Desktop and server computer hardware and software components.
Methods and techniques for installing and configuring hardware and software.
Familiarity with operational characteristics of local and wide area network systems.
Operational characteristics of various computer software packages and operating systems.
Think critically using logic and reasoning to identify potential solutions, conclusions, or problem approaches.
Maintain the confidentiality of records and information.
Install, configure, and test computer hardware and software.
Troubleshoot computer hardware and software equipment problems.
Communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership and board members.
Ability to deal effectively with various individuals under stressful situations and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Understanding of computer networks
Knowledge of Hardware & Software
Microsoft Office Suite
Must pass a driving record (M.V.R), drug screen, reference, and criminal history background check before starting employment.

Responsibilities

Ensure regular preventive and routine maintenance for 9-1-1 related equipment.
Install and upgrade Authority-owned hardware and software.
Install all Authority-provided applications and hardware components for new systems. Conduct testing of the system and deploy the system once functional and operational.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot software packages required by each Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) to complete 9-1-1 calls.
Participate in planning, implementing, and installing new desktop computers, laptop computers, server computer units, and peripherals.
Coordinate minor equipment repairs; identify the vendor and verify that parts are shipped for repairs; arrange for the vendor to perform on-site repairs.
Proactively monitor hardware and software systems, including Windows updates, anti-virus, workstation, and server components.
Respond to user requests regarding system operations; provide solutions to operational problems; refer users to the appropriate staff member or vendor when needed.
Track reported issues using an approved tracking method.
Perform quality assurance duties and review new application software for compliance with applicable quality assurance standards before implementation.
Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques and technologies.
