About The Position

AttainX, Inc. is in search of a dynamic IT Systems, Network and Data Management Specialist to join our team. This position provides essential logistics and installation support to the NWS (National Weather Service) SPC (Storm Prediction Center) computing facilities. Key areas of responsibility include comprehensive desktop, laptop, and server administration, network planning and Local Area Network (LAN) support, and management of critical meteorological data. This role requires collaboration with the University of Oklahoma (OU) National Weather Center (NWC) building owners and adherence to government and NOAA IT guidelines.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing systems security and maintenance of desktops, laptops, servers, peripherals, and software.
  • Demonstrated experience Installing, configuring and managing desktop and laptop computers, server hardware, devices, peripherals, and software.
  • Demonstrated experience managing of the computer networks, switches, and other network connectivity devices.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a closely managed support role.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
  • 3+ years relevant experience in system administration or technical support
  • One of four certifications from, Managing Modern Desktop (MD101 or higher), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or higher, Professional Certification of Red Hat Server Administrator (RHSA), CISCO Professional Level Certification (such as CCDP, CCNP, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Follow government guidelines, policies, and procedures to provide systems security and develop procedures for the use and maintenance of all computers, peripherals, and software at SPC.
  • Install, configure, manage, and optimize Desktop and Laptop computers and Server hardware, including the installation of adapters, devices, and peripherals (scanners, sound, video, printers) with oversight.
  • Provide support for system management, administering and maintaining patches, upgrades, and security settings on all current systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on workstations, servers, printers, and other peripherals to ensure maximum operability and uptime.
  • Support the diagnosis and correction of hardware and software problems on desktops, laptops, and servers, performing necessary replacement or repair.
  • Field user questions regarding problems with Windows/Linux servers, desktop workstations, and laptops.
  • Assist in the administration of an offsite backup system, ensuring daily/weekly server backups and providing users with options for backing up Desktop and Laptop computers.
  • Coordinate all aspects of computer network management, including the planning and directing of day-to-day performance management of the network, routers, switches, and other connectivity devices.
  • Perform network administration, which includes the addition/deletion of users, control of access rights, service management, and network monitoring.
  • Assist in the operation of the network, including LDAP and Active Directory authentication services, and maintain DNS servers.
  • Assist with coordinating existing network integration with the NWC/OU and NWS/NCEP while participating in future network requirements planning.
  • Support IT procurements, property inventory, and reconciliation activities as well as compiling various IT-related reports.
