About The Position

The IT Systems Engineer primarily manages account access and identity across cloud and SaaS platforms. The role includes provisioning and deprovisioning accounts, designing and maintaining group and role structures, owning onboarding and offboarding, managing software licenses and vendors, and supporting access audits and reviews. The position also provides onsite hardware and workstation support, prepares equipment for new hires, maintains conference-room audiovisual systems and printers, supports company events, and manages equipment inventory. There may be opportunities to contribute to Cloud and DevOps work with the Cloud Engineering team, potentially up to 50% of the time, although availability varies; the role is expected to remain primarily IT-focused. The engineer documents solutions and automates recurring work as appropriate, working with a small, senior team and latitude to improve processes. The position is based in Austin, Texas, with an onsite presence required four days per week.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years administering SaaS and identity platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, GitHub, or Atlassian.
  • Ability to design and administer access using groups and roles rather than relying on individual permission grants, and explain the value of that approach.
  • Experience owning onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Hands-on ability to image laptops, set up workstations, and troubleshoot hardware such as docking stations and monitors.
  • Experience supporting conference-room audiovisual and video-conferencing systems.
  • Strong recordkeeping, including inventory, documentation, and clear records of work performed and its rationale.
  • Clear, patient communication with people experiencing technical issues.
  • Ability to clarify vague requests, determine what is needed, and complete work independently.
  • Willingness to learn scripting; scripting experience is not required.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, or sufficiently strong related experience in place of a degree.
  • Comfort with an onsite presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google Cloud.
  • AWS or Azure experience, particularly with IAM, directory, and account management.
  • Exposure to access reviews, user audits, or compliance evidence gathering.
  • Python experience or willingness to learn Python.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts and identity across cloud and SaaS platforms, including tools used by individual teams.
  • Design and maintain access groups and roles to make permissions explainable and auditable.
  • Manage end-to-end onboarding, including accounts, licenses, application access, and tested hardware, coordinating with corporate IT and application owners.
  • Manage offboarding and verify that access is removed across all systems.
  • Support access audits and reviews by gathering evidence, reconciling accounts against the identity provider, and closing identified gaps.
  • Manage software licensing and vendor administration, including seats, renewals, and invoices.
  • Provide first-line support for laptops, monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals, resolving issues locally or escalating them.
  • Maintain conference-room audiovisual equipment, including TVs, video-conferencing systems, and room-booking panels.
  • Provide technical support for town halls, leadership meetings, presentations, and other events.
  • Troubleshoot printers, including connectivity, drivers and software, toner, and routine maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on conference-room audiovisual systems, printers, and shared technology.
  • Maintain equipment and supply inventory, monitor stock levels, and flag items for reorder.
  • Coordinate with corporate IT and outside vendors when issues cannot be resolved locally.
  • Document solutions and automate recurring work.
  • Potentially contribute to Cloud and DevOps work alongside the Cloud Engineering team.
