About The Position

The IT Systems Engineer is a hands-on, multi-functional role responsible for the design, implementation, management, maintenance, security, and support of IT and operational technology (OT) systems across office and field environments. The role spans infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, data, automation, cybersecurity, and advanced end-user support. It requires broad technical judgment and the ability to move effectively between strategic system improvements and day-to-day operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a similar systems engineering, infrastructure, or IT/OT role.
  • CCNA or a comparable networking certification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft cloud products, including Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and at least one major Linux distribution.
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, one object-oriented programming language, and one relational database language.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industrial technologies and protocols, such as PLC languages, Modbus, or DNP3.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical operations and production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, manage, and maintain IT and OT infrastructure across office and field environments.
  • Perform system planning, deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, security, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management for hardware and software.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, reliability, and cybersecurity of production systems.
  • Co-manage network infrastructure and related services with the managed service provider (MSP).
  • Support field and project technologies, including the reliable flow of operational data between systems.
  • Provide engineering, administration, and support for Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, on-premises systems, and business applications.
  • Maintain integrations and platform services that connect systems and support business operations.
  • Develop and maintain software, scripts, and technical tools used for IT and OT administration, monitoring, automation, and support.
  • Provide practical automation capabilities to end users across business platforms and functions.
  • Harden systems in alignment with organizational policies and enterprise security standards.
  • Administer and support identity, access management, and related security controls.
  • Support physical access administration and systems in coordination with the security manager.
  • Perform incident response, technical investigation, remediation, and security risk mitigation.
  • Support compliance with applicable regulations, internal controls, and cybersecurity and data-protection practices.
  • Provide upper-tier technical support for office and project systems, including hardware, software, applications, and network services.
  • Oversee IT and OT asset inventory, purchasing, deployment, tracking, recovery, and surplus management.
  • Monitor and support effective employee onboarding, offboarding, and technology training processes.
  • Manage and support printers, conference room technology, and related office hardware.
  • Assist the Director, IT with vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and service performance.
  • Contribute technical analysis to build-versus-buy decisions and the evaluation of external partners and solutions.
