About The Position

Eversource is seeking an IT Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain new and existing systems and features, adapting them to business and technology changes. This role involves close collaboration with IT management, development teams, technical delivery teams, and vendors to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions. The engineer will drive software change and release management processes, contributing to the maturity of the software development and infrastructure lifecycle. The position requires working independently to ensure software and hardware deliverables meet architecture and security standards, maintaining quality and safety. This role is hybrid, requiring employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day determined by the employee and supervisor. Applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed and should not require immigration sponsorship.

  • Maintains awareness of industry trends, policies & tools, standards, and best practices
  • Possesses working knowledge in one or more areas – Control Systems, Microsoft stack, VMWare (ESX, VMs), IT Security, Databases (MS SQL), Networks, Firewalls, PowerShell, Backup & Recovery.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Requires expert knowledge of work area, typically obtained through education combined with experience.
  • May have broad knowledge of project management.
  • Works to influence parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • SQL DBA experience a plus
  • Advanced Degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Configuring, integrating and supporting highly available critical vendor software packages and infrastructure.
  • Designing, developing, testing, coordinating, implementing, maintaining and administering IT Infrastructure and critical applications.
  • Analyzing business/technical related needs and proposing suitable solutions.
  • Creating processes and tools to enhance and streamline support and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintaining revisions to existing systems and procedures.
  • Conducting product research and evaluation.
  • Supporting applications and troubleshooting complex issues, with a focus on Control & Monitoring Systems (SCADA Control Systems, LNG/LPG Plants, SQL DBA experience a plus).
  • Working effectively, coaching, reviewing, and delegating work to other team members; Mentoring junior engineers.
  • Influencing others regarding company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Achieving day-to-day objectives with significant impact on work area.
  • Contributing to the development of goals of the discipline and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.).
  • Providing oversight to moderately sized projects or processes with moderate impact on the achievement of discipline results.
  • Providing measurable input to new products, processes, or standards in operational plans to implement business strategies.
  • Taking ownership and accountability of tasks to drive successful delivery.
  • Making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of work area.
  • Communicating with parties within and outside of own discipline.
  • Managing vendor relationships, resources and priorities.
  • Implementing proactive monitoring and automation using tools/scripting to automate tasks, enhance and simplify support and proactively address issues to minimize business impacts.

  • Contributing to documentation required to maintain critical systems.
