About The Position

The IT System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the company’s information technology infrastructure across the office, project sites, and remote operations. This role ensures reliable network connectivity, secure data access, technology equipment inventory and maintenance and efficient use of technology tools to support construction management, estimating, field operations, and corporate functions.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a System Administrator or Network Administrator, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Exchange.
  • Proficiency with networking (LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers).
  • Experience with backup solutions, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and endpoint management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support diverse technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and travel occasionally to job sites.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with construction software platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk, etc.) a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • System and Network Administration:
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, network devices, and company systems (on-premises and cloud-based).
  • Manage Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and perform regular maintenance.
  • Ensure data integrity and system backups are properly configured and tested.
  • Set up new users and deactivate access for inactive users.
  • Technology Support:
  • Support software updates, maintenance and licenses (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Buildr, Sage, Microsoft, backup software, VPN, etc.), in compliance with an IT budget.
  • Manage field connectivity, including site Wi-Fi, VPN access, and mobile device management for field personnel.
  • Coordinate IT setup for new project sites and trailers, including all technology hardware set up, network and printer installations.
  • Manage cell phone and mobile device management and distribution.
  • Maintain inventory with all hardware equipment and phase out/replace outdated equipment every 3 years.
  • cybersecurity and compliance:
  • Implement and enforce security protocols, antivirus protection, and access control policies.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and industry standards for data security.
  • user Support and training:
  • Provide technical support to office and field users.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, procedures, and training materials.
  • Train employees on best practices for IT systems, data security, and software tools.
  • Create a ticketing system and ensure proper response time to tickets submitted.
  • project and vendor management:
  • Coordinate with hardware, software, and telecom vendors for procurement, installation, and support.
  • Participate in IT infrastructure upgrades and technology improvement projects.
  • Maintain inventory of hardware, software licenses, and equipment across project sites.
  • Negotiate and ensure system costs are reasonable.
  • Local travel required to project jobsites for mobilization setup and support as needed.
