About The Position

The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS), located in downtown Ottawa, is seeking a proactive, hands-on IT Systems and Cloud Operations Analyst to support a hybrid IT environment spanning end-user support, infrastructure, cloud services, networking, and cybersecurity. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is eager to broaden technical exposure while taking ownership of systems and contributing to continuous improvement. The role blends user support with infrastructure and security operations in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time contract (1-year), hybrid position. The successful candidate must be based in Ottawa and available for occasional on-site work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology, management, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations.
  • Hands-on experience supporting: Windows and Mac OS environments
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID)
  • Experience with identity and access management (Entra ID and/or Okta).
  • Experience with Active Directory or hybrid identity environments.
  • Experience managing virtual machines (provisioning, patching, lifecycle management).
  • Experience supporting VPN and remote access technologies.
  • Foundational networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals (MFA, patching, endpoint protection, least privilege).
  • Basic scripting ability (PowerShell or similar).
  • Experience working in hybrid environments (on premises + cloud).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with task/project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VMware vSphere (clustered environments).
  • Exposure to AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC).
  • Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., NinjaOne).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog).
  • Exposure to Check Point security tools (Harmony, firewalls).
  • Basic awareness of F5 load balancing.
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., GitHub).
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with security tooling (EDR, SIEM, vulnerability scanning).
  • Familiarity with security or compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • ITIL or service management experience.
  • AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner or Associate).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Tier 1–2 support across Windows, Mac OS, and Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID).
  • Administer identity and access systems (Entra ID, Okta), including SSO, MFA, and user lifecycle management.
  • Support VPN and secure remote access solutions.
  • Maintain Active Directory, Windows servers, and hybrid identity environments.
  • Provision and manage virtual machines and virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere).
  • Support core networking functions (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs).
  • Assist with cybersecurity operations including endpoint protection, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Support AWS environments (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC) and system monitoring.
  • Manage service requests, tasks, and small initiatives using tools such as Asana or Jira.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and processes while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support backup and disaster recovery processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
