About The Position

The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable IT professional to join the Information Technology team as an IT Systems Administration Manager! The goal of this position is to provide strategic and operational leadership for a team responsible for delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing application services that support the Department’s mission and business needs. As an IT Systems Administration Manager, the candidate of choice will provide supervise a team of six staff, guiding daily operations while planning for future growth and innovation. Tasks will include balancing current operational needs with long-term planning, identifying opportunities to improve application performance, security, efficiency, and the overall user experience. Collaboration is key as you will work with business and technology stakeholders to understand organizational priorities, guide application strategies, and ensure SaaS solutions continue to evolve with changing business and technology demands. Requirements

  • Highly proficient in providing support of information technology with a demonstrated track record of progressively responsible experience in the system administration of enterprise SaaS and COTS applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading IT staff and projects, with a proven ability to guide technical teams, oversee project delivery, and ensure successful technical oversight
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex IT environments with multiple integrated systems
  • Experience implementing and maintaining security, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience coordinating with vendors and enforcing service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a public sector or government IT environment
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practitioner or experience
  • Experience managing staff in multiple remotes offices
  • Experience managing contracts for COTS software solutions, including vendor coordination, license management, renewals, and compliance monitoring

Responsibilities

  • Managing the SaaS Applications team overseeing administration and operational performance of enterprise SaaS applications
  • Managing the daily operations of team and services owned to ensure availability, security, compliance, and optimal performance
  • Conducting performance evaluations, sets goals, and provides coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities
  • Allocating resources, sets priorities, and facilitates regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and share updates
  • Promoting cross training to ensure coverage, recognizes and rewards high performance, and addresses performance issues promptly and constructively
  • Developing strategy and implement service plans to include resources, training and tiered support for services
  • Managing quality, accountability, productivity and timely delivery of services
  • Making recommendations to the Service Delivery Manager and implements improvements of customer services
  • Communicating with staff, customers, management, external agencies and vendors and share changes
  • Planning and coordinating application lifecycle management and improvement initiative
  • Other Duties as assigned
